The Dispensary Daingean

You are very welcome to stay in 'The Dispensary Daingean', a renovated apartment opening directly onto the Grand Canal Greenway - ideal for walking, running or cycling and a great base for exploring Ireland's Hidden Heartland or The Ancient East.

An hour from Dublin, we are centrally located in the historic town of Daingean, County Offaly. 15 minutes from Tullamore and Edenderry. 25 Minutes from Mullingar. Near to the beautiful Slievebloom mountains, Croghan Hill, and numerous golf courses.

Recently refurbished with a modern interior, this former Doctor's surgery, built in 1905, still contains period features, including sash windows and original doors.

Access is through a private entrance at the side of the house, directly on the greenway. The space consists of 3 bright and airy rooms: a combined living/kitchen area, a bedroom with King-size bed, and bathroom with large walk-in rainfall shower.

This is a self-catering unit with oven and electric hob cooking facilities, as well as a coffee machine, fridge, kettle, and toaster.

There is Wifi access throughout the property, as well as a smart TV with the Netflix app and all local channels available.

The apartment is a great getaway for couples but can sleep up to 4 people, as the couch folds out into a full double bed. We are a family friendly holiday home and offer a travel cot for small children, which is available on request. 

This is a self-contained unit attached to our main house via an always locked internal door. The apartment has its own private side entrance and we operate a self-check in process using a key lock box. We are delighted to meet any guests who have questions or just fancy a chat!

This apartment is based in the middle of Daingean, County Offaly, a small historic town in the heart of Ireland, and about one-hour from Dublin and Dublin Airport. There are four pubs in the town to avail of a social drink after a day out exploring. There is also an award-winning shop, children's playground right across the canal, GAA pitch, takeaways, pharmacy, and a great coffee shop. All within walking distance. A regular local bus service runs both to Tullamore and Edenderry.

The Grand Canal Greenway in Offaly runs from Edenderry, going through Daingean, Tullamore (lots of restaurants and pubs to choose from and home to Tullamore Dew), and all the way to Shannon Harbour.

We are 5 minutes from Mount Lucas windfarms, which have numerous walking trails as well as a weekly park run every Saturday.

Other recommended day trips that are nearby include: Lough Boora Discovery Park, Slieve Bloom Mountain walking and cycling trails, Croghan Hill, Birr Castle, Belvedere House and Gardens, Charleville Castle, Tullamore Dew Distillery, and Kilbeggan Distillery. There are also many local golf clubs, including Esker Hills, and Tullamore.
